Love is what you make it out to be 2013 72 x 72 Mixed Media Collage on Canvas
Currently at Gebert
Contemporary On Main in Scottsdale. Got accepted to the Arizona Biennial
2013. July 19 Opening reception: 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block. Shows runs until September 29.
“Love is what you make it out to be” is the second of a series of paintings where the title refers to a song by a musician I admire. Aubrey Debauchery is a singer and songwriter who lives in Chico California. I was going to title the painting after one of her songs sometimes inspired by ex-boyfriends, crushes, outlaw country, and lots of whiskey. I asked if she would do me the honor of naming this painting and she wrote a song with a title inspired by the painting posted here. If my paintings could sing I would like them to sing like Aubrey. Visit her website and look up her youtube videos http://www.aubreydebauchery.com/

All Flowers In Time Bend Towards The Sun. 2013 72 x 72in. Mixed media collage on canvas
|
| "All Flowers In Time Bend Towards The Sun" I titled this after a beautiful
unreleased song by Jeff Buckley and Elizabeth Fraser. Flower-arranging as an art form was brought to Japan by Buddhist monks,
who learned it while in China. In ancient China, flower-arranging
developed into a highly refined art form, based on the principle that
life is sacred, including the life of plants, therefore cut flowers were
used sparingly in carefully planned arrangements. Flowers were a
traditional ritual offering among Buddhists, however, and remain so. (Wikipedia) SOLD |

Modern advances adapting to nature 2011 Mixed media collage. 74 x 96

Available
Modern advances adapting to nature 2011. 74x96. This painting is part of a small series of paintings based on other artist works, in this case the Picasso "Guernica". The painting is also one of the first i did for a series that had darker monochromatic and/or black and white colors. These are helicopter rotors, machines representing our advances in technology and how these adapt to our society while living in nature. The organic shapes that look as if they were some type of wings are another variation of horizontal stabilizers from an aircraft. The stabilizers were used in my design at the Sky Harbor airport SkyTrain station floor built in terrazzo opening next year. The painting is at available at Gebert Contemporary On Main in Scottsdale Arizona where it was first displayed.
